Language disorders can affect people of all ages in various ways - speaking, understanding, reading, and writing, for instance. All of our patients are unique individuals, and we love getting to know them, their families, and their stories so that we can provide individualized speech and language therapy to improve communication skills.
Speech and language therapy can be an integral part of someone's communication and educational journey. Through BST's person-centered care approach, patients are given personalized tools and accommodations to communicate across various settings. Our scope of practice also offers support to individuals with receptive language and specific learning disorders, such as dyslexia, through intervention approaches that focus on encouraging the use of compensatory strategies and educational accommodations along with fostering skills of self-advocacy that build a foundation for lifelong success.

Literacy development refers to the whole process of learning language and the words and sounds that go with it. It facilitates reading and writing, which in turn facilitates good communication and learning. Think about it: In daily life, we are constantly speaking, listening, reading, or writing; from songs to conversations, recipes to billboards to texting, giving virtually nonstop opportunities to engage with literacy events. But, of course, literacy skills do not develop overnight.
